MISSIONS

Contact: John Harris

"Jesus said to his followers, 'Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone.'" (Mark 16:15 NCV)

Our Vision For Missions:
Is simply to utilize the resources at our disposal to carry the good news of our Savior to all creation.... and to make disciples who grow to have an intimate relationship with God.

The Friendly Avenue Missions Ministry is involved in four mission Points. Two are domestic and two are located in foreign countries. The domestic points are AGAPE of NC, Inc., located in Greensboro, NC and the Yadkinville Church of Christ located in Yadkinville, NC.

The foreign mission points are located in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic and Sibiu, Romania.

It is our fervent prayer that we are able to touch lives, relieve hunger and suffering and introduce people to Christ through the programs we conduct while on mission trips.

AGAPE of NC, Inc.:
Located at 302 College Road, Greensboro, NC 27410. AGAPE (Association for Guidance, Aid, Placement & Empathy) is a family-services organization licensed by the State of North Carolina to provide an array of services for the family; including, but not limited to: Foster Care, Adoption Services, and Family Counseling.

Yadkinville Church of Christ:
The Yadkinville church is a family of believers focusing on: faith in God, the Holy Scriptures, Jesus Christ, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Yadkinville is a town of approximately 5,000 people, located in Yadkin County near Winston-Salem, NC. They are part of the Winston-Salem Metro-Plex which consists of nearly 350,000 people. The congregation is led by elders: Thomas Willard, Ray Rawley, Eddie Ridings, and Dennis Conner. The Minister is Dennis Conner. If you are in the area you may want to join them for worship at: 617 West Main Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055; Phone (336) 679-8924.

San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic:
The Dominican Republic is larger and more diverse than most Caribbean islands and has a varied topography. Although the island is blessed with large bustling cities and beautiful resort beach areas, we’ve decided to labor in San Juan de la Maguana. San Juan is located some 50 miles east of the Haitian Border and is primarily an agricultural society. The city is populated by nearly 300,000 Spanish speaking souls and sprawls across a wide area.

Bolivar Ramirez has 33 years of experience in the ministry and is the local minister in San Juan. He has done an excellent job of growing the local congregation to approximately 200 members.

His wife, Celida, and other family members assist him in the work, and they have done an admirable job of spreading the Good News in and around the city of San Juan de la Maguana.

Sibiu, Romania
Is a city of approximately 190,000 souls which is located in Eastern Europe in territory that was once “behind the iron curtain.” They were a Communist Country until 1989, when the people rose up and overthrew the brutal dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, who was the last in a long line of dictators. Since 1989, the nation has been transitioning to a democracy and the transition has imposed a hardship on many people, especially the working class. All Government aid stopped immediately and people were now left to their own devices to find work and shelter for their already-impoverished families.

The city of Sibiu is about the size of an midsized American city. The city is very old and is able to trace its roots back to approximately 300 BC. It has a lot of very old and very quaint architecture, much of which dates back to before the USA was founded as a country.

The local congregation is approximately 40 people whose current minister is Pavel Stinghe. Pavel is an indigenous minister (maybe the only one in Country). Since taking over, approximately three years ago, he has maintained the work and is now in a position to move the congregation forward and to experience some growth. Pavel is supported in the work by his wife, Monica, and several other members who labor at his side.
